Center for Human Security & Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management Academic Engagement

School of Public Affairs Dean, George Reed, and Center for Human Security Executive Director, Steve Recca, participated in an Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management (OEM) academic engagement event on Thursday, August 13. OEM provided a tour of the Waldo Canyon burn scar and related sediment and flood water mitigation projects. UCCS joined academic partners from Colorado College, Colorado Technical University, and Pikes Peak Community College, as well as city and county government officials to discuss ways to connect faculty and student research with the enduring ecological, environmental and economic challenges posed by the 2012 fire.
