Maria O’Connell joined the College of Public Service (formerly School of Public Affairs) in January 2021 as the Student Services Specialist for the UCCS Social Work program. In this role, Maria works in recruiting, guiding graduate students through the application process and supporting students in the UCCS Social Work program.

Maria has also worked as an Academic Advisor and Success Coach at UCCS. Maria has experience providing case management and therapeutic in-home services to youth in foster care and in medical social work.

Maria is passionate about the field of social work, higher education and helping students. Outside of work, Maria enjoys reading, yoga and spending time with her family.
